On-line Resources for Making Web Sites
The least expensive way to design a web site is using free software. If you currently have Microsoft Word or Excel on your computer, you can actually download Microsoft's Internet Assistant and use it to do basic web page design. For the Word version, go to: http://www.microsoft.com/word/internet/ia/default.htm.

Another free option you have for making web pages is to use Composer, which is a part of Netscape Communicator. You may also wish to search CNet's site, http://www.cnet.com for web page design tips, software and great Internet-related links and applications.

There are also several web page design programs, which are not free, that are also very good. Some of these include: Microsoft FrontPage 98, Claris Home Page, Adobe Pagemill and BBEdit.

Finding web design tips and tricks on the Internet is easy, since there are so many good sites out there offering free advice on HTML, web page layout and design, making .GIF animations, and what's involved in making your graphics web-ready. Just do a quick web search on the topic, and you'll find tons of stuff on the web about creating good web pages.

Whether you already have a web site or are creating one from scratch, making web pages can be fun and challenging and there are always new tricks to learn, new ways of doing things. The best advice to give anyone making web sites is to focus on what really interests you and take it from there! Making web pages about things you really care about and sharing it with others on the Internet is one of the greatest things the web has to offer (besides our wacky Petz Palz, of course!).
